) I just saw QVC advertise Mintek 37 "LCD TV with DVD player feature for about $ 1268 (without additional shipping and tax. Of course, phone calls, the joy went home. But if I do not see DVD or HD programming what to buy the best product, the receipt of non-HD channels again --- meaning beautiful, is not grainy.'s why I'm frightened for the leap to purchase to make because I do not many high-definition digital television and so many channels to see. I am the kind of person to spend more money to improve the quality. The words of wisdom, friends, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Every HDTV give a grainy picture, is transmitted when an analog 480i signal. The reality of today's technology. The good news is with the stations 'Go Digital', even at 480, the image is greatly improved.
Remember that this is a temporary situation, All Over The Air (OTA) stations are broadcasting in digital in 2009, in February, as I can remember. This is an FCC mandate, so that all local radio stations for the public airwaves in 2009 will be digital.
What the best is a matter of personal opinion. Personally I like the Mitsubishi 37-inch LCD - LT37121. 1900X1080P native resolution. If you really think HD go, make sure you never buy the TV has a native resolution of 1900x1080. There is no good reason downconverter 1080 lines to 766 lines, or convert a signal of 720 lines to 766 to. They are merely distortions of the upconversion.
1080 Going ready to bring the next generation, must be within 5 to 10 years.
Good luck with your purchase.
